It’s been a long time since a new post appeared on this blog. The reason is that we were developing many new projects and we are also taking a class, developed by the Passivhaus Institute of Darmstadt, to become a certified Passive House Consultant.
The Passive House is the world’s leading standard in energy-efficient construction: The energy savings as compared to mandatory new building standards amounts to more than 80 per cent. Heating costs for a home are reduced to only ten to 25 Euros per month – high energy prices therefore hardly affect Passive House residents.
In the upcoming weeks we will get the green light for the construction of two passive wood houses in the charming village of Kleinbettingen, One house has already been reserved and the second one is being sold by the real estate agency Livin.lu, who provided us with these beautiful renderings of the project. We are still brainstorming the type of facade we will use on this exciting new project.

MINKA is a short documentary film about a remarkable Japanese farmhouse and the memories it contains. In 1967, an American journalist and his adopted Japanese son rescued the ancient house from the snow country of Japan, and their lives were forever changed. MINKA is an intimate story about place, architecture, memory and the meaning of home.

According to Patrick KERSTEN, CEO of AtHome, the average price of a house in the Grand Duchy will reach one million euros in 2020. Nothing seems to stop this trend, not even an economic situation marked by uncertainty.
The question haunts the minds and burns the lips of displaced professionals in Luxembourg. Is it reasonable to buy real estate right now in the Grand Duchy? Difficult to answer. The parameters to consider are many. In addition to personal considerations, macroeconomic indicators, the outlook in terms of national competitiveness and demographics are considered.
Of course, no certain answer can be made in respect to the future. Patrick KERSTEN, CEO and founder of AtHome, the group that manages the eponymous real estate advertising site, however, provides some answers in a ”white paper” that could make more noise than the celebration of the 10 years of his company . According to his calculations, a house in the Grand Duchy will cost 1.000.000 € on average in 2020. It is worth just under 600,000 € today.
